These are the foods you should be eating right now!

You've gone a little overboard with the culinary over the holidays? With these foods, you can compensate for the gluttony!
Over the holidays, most people indulge in a little too much salt, sugar, and alcohol. Feeling like you're in over your head? Then we've got the right foods to balance out your recent binge.

Too much salt over the holidays?
In this country, people basically eat too much salt not only over the holidays but actually throughout the year. On average, people in Germany get 9.5 grams of salt per day, which skyrockets the risk of high blood pressure and strokes. You have eaten too much salt? Then in the coming days focus on foods that contain a lot of water, such as cucumbers, tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, lamb's lettuce, zucchini, cauliflower, spinach, watermelon, and eggplant. And also, always drink water!

Sugar overload?
There is hardly a time of the year when we consume as much sugar as during Advent. This not only damages your figure and your teeth but also your health. It's a good thing you can do something good for your body now to compensate for the chocolate overload. You should reach for these foods now: Water with ginger, lemon or mint, vegetables, and fruit. However, pay attention to the fructose content of the respective fruits!

Had too much to drink?
There's nothing wrong with an after-work beer now and then - but over Christmas and New Year's Eve, it probably didn't always stay that way. If you've had too much to drink, you should start eating alkaline foods that counteract acidification of the body. Avocados, berries, figs, oranges, artichokes, carrots, beet, and chard are just a few examples of foods. For all those who want to cleanse their organism thoroughly, an alkaline fasting cure is recommended.
