Orange peel skin - this is what you can really do against the dimples

Let's be honest: Is there anything you can do against cellulite? We explain what helps against cellulite and what you can do without!
Orange peel skin is not an isolated case. Around 80 percent of all women suffer from cellulite. The connective tissue weakness that affects the buttocks and thighs is not a disease. Orange peel skin is more of a beauty problem that is due to the perception of many women. Although they are only small dents on the skin, they often leave large traces in self-confidence. This is a pity because, on the one hand, the connective tissue provides us with invaluable services, and on the other hand, we do not want our body to become a hilly landscape. But how does cellulite develop in the first place and what helps?

Orange peel skin: Causes
It's kind of mean: orange peel skin only affects women. Because men do not get it. But why actually and what are the causes of cellulite?

The main cause of orange peel skin is the special structure of the connective tissue. The two outer layers of skin are thinner in women than in men, so they stretch more easily during pregnancy. Of course, we are grateful for this.
At the same time, the fat layer lying in the subcutis is thicker in women on the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen than in men - and even the individual fat cells are larger. If too many fat cells are now stored, the cells enlarge, push up through the connective tissue and thus become visible as dents.
The fat layer is crisscrossed by connective tissue strands that link skin and muscle. In men, they are arranged like a net running parallel to the surface of the skin. In women, they have the shape of columns that run perpendicular to the skin towards the inside of the body. Thus, the predisposition to cellulite is anatomically predetermined. That is why orange peel skin does not stop at thin women.
Another cause of cellulite is female hormones. Under the influence of estrogen, the body stores water, which is why cellulite appears stronger or weaker in many women depending on their menstrual cycle.
Stress also promotes the development of cellulite.
And if you smoke, you also promote cellulite.
Orange peel skin - what helps?
If the dimples are mainly due to enlarged fat cells and sagging skin, at least an improvement of the skin structure can be achieved with dietary changes, massages, sports, and skincare. If the cellulite is mainly caused by the connective tissue strands, the chances of really changing something are lower. It is impossible to get rid of cellulite completely anyway. But we know a few tricks that you can use to strengthen your connective tissue.

In general, there are some rules that you can use to tighten connective tissue and reduce orange peel skin.

The best strategies in the fight against orange peel skin:
Healthy diet. Yes, it can actually greatly affect our connective tissue. For example, pineapple water is great against cellulite, apples, apricots, raspberries, cherries, peas, broccoli - fruits and vegetables are good for the skin. Especially helpful are foods containing vitamin C, such as kiwis, oranges, or peppers. But also herbs, salads, sprouts, germs, and nuts. We have listed the foods that you should eliminate from your diet: 7 foods that promote cellulite. This includes alcohol, animal protein, white flour, sugar - and nicotine anyway.
Of course, it is also important to drink enough: mineral water, unsweetened teas, whey, and buttermilk.
Exercise is important! And is demonstrably the remedy that helps best against cellulite! We tell you what kind of sports you can do to fight cellulite and what exercises help.
Massage helps! Do you know the Tunisia Massage? We reveal how cellulite massage works. Our tip: Simply introduce it as a daily ritual after showering: a brush massage. The soft bristles stimulate blood circulation in the thighs, buttocks, upper arms, and abdomen. In circular motions for about 5 minutes.
If you want to get active in the shower, grab a loofah mitt and gently rub the skin with it. If you want to massage in an anti-cellulite oil afterward, do not dry yourself completely - this allows the oil to be better absorbed into the skin.

Lipolysis - does it create a lasting effect? Electrostimulation by low current, cold, injection of fat-dissolving substances, or laser irradiation are used to dissolve fat cells in a targeted manner. In several studies, laser therapy showed a certain reduction in the depth of the dimples, which was still measurable even two years later.
Peeling refines the skin texture and removes dead skin cells. Afterward, the legs can be made more even with a little self-tanner. Although this does not help against cellulite per se, it makes it less noticeable.
Orange peel skin - how anti-cellulite products work
The short answer: conditionally. Those who use creams should always do so in combination with a massage. This is one of the methods proven effective because it promotes blood circulation and activates lymph flow.

The benefits of all other anti-cellulite substances, such as sea fennel, ginkgo, seaweed, ivy, meadowfoam, grape seed oil, evening primrose oil, or yam, are just as unproven as those of the numerous treatment methods in cosmetic institutes or doctors' offices - which does not mean, however, that creams and these methods generally do not help. Cosmetic companies have conducted many studies of their own and, after all, women keep buying cellulite creams because they are convinced of their benefits.
